They're herrreeee
They’re here.
Some of you have probably notice a little black bug roaming along side your house, garage or barn.
Well fear not.
These little buggers known to the world of bug studiers as Leptocoris gravitates or to me and you, or you and me, the Box Elder bug.. A bug that walks like a cockroach looks like a cockroach but is not a cockroach. These pesky little yuck bugs love warm spots on the exterior of any structure.
Well, how do you kill them?
First you must know a few things about the Box elder bug.
They don’t bite, They won’t harm your home. They are not termites, they don’t eat furniture, but can leave their droppings. EWWWW. They Don’t Harm animals, house plants, or you. Simply put, they are bugs, ugly crawly bugs.
Ok, so, how do We Kill them?
First You have to know where they are breeding.. Ewwwwww.
In The Fall. These little ewww bugs, move into cavities or cracks in your house, garage or shed or whatever structures is around. Once they have done this little can be done to eliminate them.
( Screaming Yaaaaaaa, Help ).
You must Protect yourself. First Remove all Elder trees from your property. Well, Any one who knows, if you live in Bedminster, this would mean a legislative act. But, fear not. You can caulk all windows, repair screen doors, find those cracks and fill them.
Finding the spots where these bugs are is to check the warm side of your home or other structure . If they are in your house, it is a good thing to remember the little flying bugs really don’t want to be there. One could say they had got lost in their adventure to find a way outside. Or have flown into your home by an open door or cracks around the window. When mashing these bugs, they might stain your furnishing , so be careful.
The remedy, on the exterior of your home you can use the soap and water solution. Water and soap is sprayed directly on the insects, the soap kills them. If you use an exterminator use them in the summer or spring time or early fall. Insecticides are not very effective after the weather turns cold. ( Trick Question - At what temperature is it cold?).
However, I use commando tactics when approaching these Elder bugs.. Armed with gloves and a scarf. I slowly approach and Spray! Not Water, but RAID!!!! The KILLS FLYING INSCETS, Raid.
My job is done here.

Absolutely the same experience as the first anonymous. What a terrible smell. For years I have had them in the house in the fall. Just several over a period of a few weeks. Just like we get several field mice in the fall. You take them for granted and deal with them.
